sigh

OK, I went through some of my archives and it inspired me to go through some archives on other sites …

I’m now reminded of a particular argument that pissed me off more than I have been in some time … and going back through all the posts and rebuttals and arguments and counter points … it is clear to me now that …

I was SO ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!

I honestly don’t know why I put up with people at all. I’m pretty sure I’m going to destroy all of you (yes all of you) once I become ruler of the universe. A few dozen of the hotter females will be allowed to survive so that we can repopulate the earth … but that’s a discussion for a later time.

Anyway it’s clearly not healthy for me to visit these sites anymore. I’m going to reinstate my self-imposed banning on them … I can’t think of any reason to go there that is worth seeing that shit over and over and over again.

Not a big deal, but in case any of you are wondering why you aren’t seeing me comment on some of the other sites I used to quite often … I’m boycotting these sites at least until I’m removed from the unwarranted insult tool. (I mean why on God’s green Earth would I indulge in a site that has that sort of shit on it … it just doesn’t make sense)

…anyhow…

It’s been a long week. I was ill for most of it. I’m starting to get better now thankfully. I still have a few minor symptoms to overcome but they are much less severe than they were … the end is in site.

Thank God the weekend is upon us. For those of you who get the Sci-Fi channel be sure to tune in on Friday night for the new Galactica remake series … pretty dang cool.

Gina, you got that cape yet?

Beginning my life of crime…

I feel like crap today. Last Thursday I stayed home from work sick and spend most of the day in bed. Friday I felt a little better (a little … the uncontrollable coughing had become controllable) so I went back to work.

On Saturday and Sunday things got a bit worse each day. Today, Monday, I feel like crap but here I am here at work. It’s a good thing I’m here too because half our team is out sick today.

Now, I’ve been in Chicago for nearly 6 years now and I have been to the Doctor once … ONCE. I do not want to go for a cold that they are just gonna tell me to wait out anyhow, but this is getting ridiculous. I’m a mess.

In other news a new 2nday entry method has been installed to our Security Operations Center here at work. It’s a new door handle with a finger print scanner. The reason is two fold. Firstly, should an authorized person misplace their ID card to badge in, they can use their thumb (which hopefully they have handy) to get in. Secondly with the badge only … should the power go out in the building there would have been no way (short of a mission-impossible-like ceiling entry) to enter the room. The primary security system is run off of building power and fails closed. This is apparently against fire code? The new finger scanner fails closed as well however it’s run off of battery power.

So on install day the six of us who have access were all asked to scan our finger prints into the system. I refused. They insisted. I then insisted that they first confirm for me that the constitution of The United States had been abandoned. They explained to me the reasons for the new system, and I explained that I would use my ID card as always. They insisted. I refused. They asked “what if you forget your ID badge?” I responded “Then I wont go in that room I guess”.

Now I can’t blame them for not understanding, but frankly getting OUT of the room isn’t a problem and getting in (should I for some reason need to) has never been a problem with my ID card. Should this building lose power, we have bigger issues and I’ll be in the next zip code before wondering if I should have checked what may be in that room even if I could have (after all any co-workers in there will easily still be able to get out … only getting in would be a problem … and not for them they scanned their thumbs).

So I declined to have my prints stored in their database. Frankly I don’t trust the security of any database I haven’t secured myself and besides … I fully plan to become a super-villain … and a super-villain shouldn’t be going around putting his finger prints in databases all willy-nilly.
