I’m currently searching for a recent backup…but it’s not looking good. In all likely hood the guestbook will have to me manually restored. The good news is…I have a record of all the entries…even if it takes me 47 days to re-enter them all.
In the coming days the guestbook will be restored as completely as possible. I apologize if your entry is lost (this is unlikely to happen).
Once the guestbook is restored be sure to help bring it back to it’s old glory by stopping by and signing it again!
Better database backup procedures are already in place to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
Thanks for your patience and for visiting davidmeade.com!
More »ARHG! God I HATE telco companies. I used to like AT&T despite all their obvious evil…but now…they are nothing but … but ….(deep breath – remember – G rated web site)…..well I hate them.
Please God…send us one telco that isn’t staffed with rat faced, cold hearted, dark souled, fat fingered, morons. Please Dear Heavenly Father let there be one Telco aligned with good (with a coverage area of more than half an acre – I hate to be picky here..but it’s important).
SBC/Ameritech (aka “Corporate incarnate of The Prince of Darkness”) is now in direct competition with AT&T for “Must F’d idiotic den of evil in corporate America”.
I’ve resolved the “problem” as far as AT&T goes…now I’m just hanging on the phone forcing them to transfer me to any/all departments so that I can bitch to them and ruin today for as many AT&T employees as I possibly can. (I consider this an evil in the name of good…kinda like the crusades).
There are cheaper national cellular plans out there…but do they take that into consideration and take responsibility for their own fucked up actions!? NO! sigh
(deep breaths….deep breaths….quell the rage….)
….I need a drink….
More »I’m back in Chicago…and…I’ve got working DSL!! (And there was much rejoicing)
As often happens, I ended up staying in Indiana longer than I expected. But it worked out for the best as I got to be there when Doug and Jana got their new puppy, “Sterling” (a silver Weimaraner).
The bus ride was much more tolerable this time. No body sat next to me.
BTW, Doug’s got new puppy pictures online on his website (dougmeade.com) for those of you who are interested.
More »A whole week without a blog! Sorry. I’m still in Indianapolis. I did get to spend one weekend of this little adventure in Rochester, my hometown, which was nice – I hadn’t been there in some time.
I’m heading back to Chicago tomorrow. If Earthlink knows whats good for them, there will be a new DSL modem waiting for me at home.
Tonight Doug, Jana, and I get to welcome their new puppy home! Doug and Jana are getting a Weimaraner puppy! Photos will be online soon!
Well, there are still some things left to be done to puppy-ize the house so I’m gonna go do some of that.
For all of you in Chicago, I’ll see you soon.
More »I went to Purdue to see the Michigan game. We lost.
I’m crashing at my brother’s, so I’m in Indianapolis now. I’m not sure when I’m heading back to Chicago. But, I have access to DSL here at least. Actually, I should have received my new DSL modem at home by now – whenever I get back to Chicago I’ll be back in business. So blog updates should get back to a respectable rate.
I’ll probably be in Indiana thru next weekend at any rate.
I havent’ really decided when I’m heading back. I’ve discovered that once you have a ticket on greyhound…you can use it whenever you want – it’s good for a year! Greyhound has proven to be a fast/cheap ride … it’d be perfect if the buses didn’t have…all those other people onboard.
You can all reach me via email/IM/page/cell phone as usual. And of course visit davidmeade.com for all the latest.
More »Man this dial-up thing REALLY sucks! I’m not sure how I ever managed without broadband.
Seriously I think the definition of “third world country” should be changed to “any state where broadband is not available.”
Luckily I had completed quite a bit of the serious work on davidmeade.com before the DSL modem went out. At least now I can update blogs/news/quotes/etc easily… but I cant really work on the new features I wanted to add…nor can I add any cool bells and whistles to existing features. And… I have to actually dial in when I want to be online…shudder – I WANT TO BE ONLINE ALL THE TIME!
Sigh… the RMA on the DSL modem should have taken by now…just a few more days…just a few more days.
On a happier note: I’ll be meeting the ol’ gang tomorrow. It hasn’t really been all that long I guess but it seems like it has been.
I think I like this blog idea so far. I’m sure you do too…admit it!
More »I have a few seconds before the COVAD guy takes his modem away from me…mine is busted…
I should get a new modem in a few days (I hope). Until then, I’ll be offline and so I wont be able to post more BLOGs until then. ![]()
I know you’ll miss me! I (of course) also wont be able to get email or IMs. So, until I get back online send me a text page if you need me

More »Well, I’m almost back on a normal schedule…and so far….no drugs involved! (Tho I have some on hand just in case).
I had my 2nd delivery from PeaPod.com today. This is a WONDERFUL service!
On the downside: I’m officially flat busted…I’m now taping boxes together to form the shelter that I will have to sleep in this winter. (If you have a refridgerator box please let me know).
On the up side: Purdue is slotted to kick some Illini ass this weekend. (If I had that much faith actually I’d bet my last few dollars…but as it stands…to risky.)
More »I know all of you are as excited as I am about tonight’s brand new episode of “Enterprise” followed by the brand new “The Twilight Zone” series… so I wont keep you with the more lengthy and incredibly entertaining blog that I had planned to post today. Instead I’ll let you run to your TV to tune into your local UPN stations.
On another topic: I’m thinking about getting some Nytol or something to help put me back on a normal schedule…drastic I know…but it may be required.
