Perfect. At first, I thought (as often with Lumieres) “Will this hold my interest?” Then, the way the truck comes out from below just as the other one disappears… and the other trucks racing around… and then the plane pulling out… all in the space of your alloted minute.
It’s amazing how just sitting and watching through a set frame can appear to create luck if you’re prepared right. I read what was supposed to be a West Indian proverb recently – that “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”
Thanks Andreas, it was a fun experiment … totally reliant on whatever passes before your camera … perhaps I’ll go find some other interesting places to try it again.
Yay! Another lumiere! I like this a lot because in addition to really enjoying airports and believing they are underappreciated default public spaces, I like NWA on anything as I retain what it meant in the formative years of rap music.
Hehe thanks, GoGen. As I was walking through the airport I had to settle for defining “fixed camera” as “not moving”. There’s some shaking thanks to my being human, but I tried to keep it still.
cool, I get the sense you spend a lot of time in airports.
The first thought that popped into my head was “how’d he get away with shooting in an airport”
I’ve been threatened several times by security… more accosted. For taking photos or just having my camera out at the airport. I must admit I’ve done relatively little flying since 9/11. Perhaps it’s just odd chance… then again perhaps it’s my appearance.
What’s odd is taking photos at the airport must be a fairly common experience. It’s where most people meet. Most likely right at security too.
Things I’ve been reprimanded and threatened for…
-taking pictures out the terminal window
-taking pictures at the pickup/drop off
Of course this is nothing compared to the threats I’ve gottent taking pictures in dowtown chicago of architecture, both governmental and private, in what is even a more heavily photographed area, one loaded with tourists. But maybe the climate has changed in the last year or two. I still think twice anytime I pull out my camera in public.

B, maybe we should start a VWA group?
