Everything seems to have gone fairly smoothly with my switch over to FeedBurner …
One of the main reasons I did this was to take advantage of FeedBurner’s statistics.
I’d coded up a subscriber estimation app here on my custom built feed, and I felt it was probably pretty accurate. I knew my system was overly cautious (counting fewer subscribers than it could have) … but I figured better safe than sorry.
Eventually I turned off my subscriber estimation tool because I didn’t want to maintain the code anymore. A month or two later I decided to switch to feedburner.
Either I was WAY TOO cautious in my estimation, or something happened in that month or two of no statistics to up my subscriber numbers (or perhaps a little of both) … but feedburner reports that I have more subscribers than I believed I did. (Still far fewer than most vloggers, but I’m not too concerned about that.)
So if the feedburner stats are right, there are a decent number of viewers who don’t necessarily come to the website or at least don’t leave a comment.
If you are one of them: Welcome to DavidMeade.com and thanks for subscribing. Please feel welcome to jump in and comment, we all love a good conversation. In any case thanks for subscribing.
