Stuck in 1989
It’s a long sorted story, but my DSL is down at home.
I haven’t had internet at home since the morning of Friday Dec. 3rd … 6 days so far at time of this writing. In all likelihood, I wont have internet until Dec. 11th (2 and a half more days) at best … perhaps Dec. 13th.
I’m going crazy.
It’s like I’m stuck in 1989. The internet is out there … somewhere … used by some people but not me.
I CAN’T TAKE THIS! There is NOTHING to do with my computer when it’s not online. Seriously folks … I think every application on my PC other than Freecell and Hearts was designed to be used with an internet connection.
I went to CompUSA last night DETERMINED to buy an Xbox to help me make it through this dark period. But at the last moment – just before I grabbed a sales guy – something caught my eye.
I saw a PC-based game that I wanted to play so I purchased that instead. Thankfully this game does not require an internet connection. And so far its GREAT!
So while I think now (with the help of Vampire: The masquerade: Bloodlines) I may make it thought the long night. But holy crap people … I’m goin’ crazy here.

So, what game was it?
I’m getting pressure from my friends to get an Xbox. I’ve got a lowly PS2 – but now that this ONLINE Halo thing is out, everybody wants me to join in. I think I know why – I suck at those games. It’s their chance to shoot me in the back.

I feel your pain! My internet was down for like an hour and half tonight, and I was “what the hell am I going to do???” Everytime I thought of something to do on my computer…….oh wait….need the internet for that. So, I finally gave The Sims 2 some much needed attention, but kept my eye on the cable modem. The second all those lights lit up, it was bye bye sims……hello internet!
